C. & O., Vepco to Fill, Cover Old Canal
The State Corporation Commission yesterday granted the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway and the Virginia Electric and Power Company authority to fill up and cover over that part of the old James River and Kanawha Canal between Thirteenth Street and the Tredegar iron works.
There was no opposition to the plan, as waterpower rights in the canal above the iron works will not be affected. The space now occupied by the canal will be used for railway purposes.
