Commission Studies Kanawha Closing
The State Corporation Commission took under advisement yesterday a joint petition of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway and the Virginia Electric and Power Company for permission to abandon the portion of the old James River and Kanawha Canal between Thirteenth Street and the Tredegar Iron Works.
There was no opposition to the petition. It was explained that abandonment of that section of the canal would not interfere with the use of canal water for the city’s water supply.
