OLD BOAT TO BE WRECKED.
River Queen May Be Blown Up in the Near Future.
Gilbert Bensinger, owner of the River Queen, which was burned to the waterline last Saturday night, has decided to place the remains of the old vessel in the hands of wreckers. It has not been settled yet whether she will be blown up or the hull towed to the flats and left to the mercy of the elements.
The Independent Steamboat and Barge Company, which chartered her, is making arrangements for purchase of another vessel to replace the River Queen on the route between this city and Washington Park. The River Queen was built during the civil war, and for a long time was considered one of the fastest boats on the river.
