From the Trenton (N. J.) State Gazette, 10/25/1851, p. 2, c. 2
The big guns which were cast for South Carolina, at the Tredegar Iron Works, near Richmond, were tried a few days ago, under the inspection of one Major Gardner. The firing was kept up all day, the guns made a great noise, but, according to the Richmond Whig, did not produce a very great impression upon the Virginians.
