THE ST. CHARLES HOTEL IMPROVEMENT. – We dropped into this old and well-known hotel yesterday, and saw the various improvements in progress. The new lessees are Messrs. H. E. Merrick & Co. Mr. Merrick is from Washington D. C., and the party constituting the firm (Mr. Penfield,) is from Boston. Mr. Elisha J. Crump, the carpenter and builder, has charge of the improvements now under way. The whole interior is being remodeled, and the alterations making therein will constitute the hotel one of the best arranged in the city of Richmond.
The St. Charles will be opened simultaneously with the Exchange Hotel, which will be about the first week in October.
