ASSIGNED TO DUTY. - Brevet Brigadier General H. J. Abbott has been assigned to duty as Chief of Artillery of the Department of Virginia. Gen. Abbott's division will be assigned to the occupation of such heavy gun batteries around Richmond as may require garrisons.
