From the Richmond Examiner, 6/30/1864
Mary Lazerina, with a squalling child in her arms, was charged with assaulting and beating Charles Moore, an able-bodied, athletic man.
The long and short of the testimony was, that Moore so far forgot himself as to call Mary a b___h, whereupon, as a retaliatory measure, she proclaimed him a s_n of a b___h. Thereat a fistic scene occurred. The mayor dismissed the case.
