DESERTERS TO BE SHOT. – On Friday evening last, three deserters, confined at Castle Thunder, had the sentence of death read before them. – Their names are David W. Rogers, Co. G, 1st Va.; Patrick McGowen, Co. I, 14th Va.; and John Kelleher, Co. F, of the same regiment. They will be shot at Camp Lee on Wednesday next, at 11 o'clock. The same court martial which condemned these men to be shot, sentenced one Owen Maguire, a deserter from Co. H, 1st Va., to receive fifty lashes on the bare back. It is presumable that this quartette of examples will have a beneficial effect upon would-be deserters generally.
