MEETING AT CHIMBORAZO – HUNNICUTT’S FRIENDS DON’T SUPPORT HIM. – A meeting of the Chimborazo Loyal Club was held at their hall on Wednesday night to take into consideration the present political situation of the party and its future prospects. Speeches were made and warmly applauded. Resolutions setting for the duty of the “trooly loil” were unanimously passed. Among them was one to the following effect:
“Resolved, That we love Mr. Hunnicutt, that we duly appreciate his labors in our behalf, that he entitled to the best which we can give, but that this club will support the ticket already in the field.”
One of the colored speakers, in support of the resolution, said: “Mr. Hunnicutt had went into de convention and had agreed to support de nominees and dat dis was no time to go back on de ticket now.”
The meeting was a harmonious but not a very comforting one to the “Friend and Hero.” The Rads of Chimborazo want reconstructing badly.
