Genl Hospl No. 8
1st The ward master is required to have the wards ready for inspection at the Surgeons visits at 9 o'clock AM and will report all neglect of duty.
2nd Every patient is required to be at his bed at the time of the Asst Surgeons visit, morning & afternoon and all requests must be made and all business attended to at that time. Although if it is absolutely necessary for any patients to consult with the Surgeon or assistant surg at any time after the regular visits then he must do so through his ward master.
3rd The Ward Master must not allow any patients to sit in the windows or spit on them or urinate. Offenders under this rule will be punished by depriving the offender of his meals for one day.
4th Ward Masters on each ward will see that the nurses repair promptly at the signal to the mess room and take to the sick their meals and shall see that all patients not excused by Asst Surgeon shall go to the mess room & that there is no unnecessary waste.
5th The ward master will see that no patient spits upon the floor, walls or steps or defaces the walls by pencil marks or in any other way. This rule likewise applies to the convalescents who visit the mess room, hall, privies, or any other offices below the penalty for rations(line through) Violation of this rule is confinement in the Genl Hospital on bread & water diet for twenty four hours.
6th Every patient before leaving his bed no matter for how short a time will first arrange it neatly penalty same as Rule No 3.
7 Meal hours for patients as follows Breakfast at 7 Dinner at 1 and Tea at 6 o'clock.
8 Meal hours for officers as follows Breakfast at 7½ Dinner 1½ and Tea at 6 oc
9 All convalescents ordered by Assistant Surgeons to perform police duty and failing to perform same will suffer same penalty as in Rule No 3.
10 The ward masters are required to instruct each new patient in the above rules.
