Major Gen. Lee
Comdg Forces of Virginia:
Genl:
I respectfully call attention to the subject of Powder. We are fast using it in putting up ammunition, but for small arms and Cannon. To what extent this may go I cannot foresee, but continually consuming must require sooner or later further supplies and I name this as a matter of anxiety.
Most Respectfully,
C. Dimmock
Col. Ordnance
In cannon, the attention of the Genl to the subject of powder, I looked to its manufacture for the whole state, and is not to any momentary deficiency here at this post.
