Medical Director's Office,
Richmond, Va. May 28th 1864
Sir;
A requisition for 100 Tents has been made for the Hospital under your charge. You will pitch them as soon as possible, forming from them a convalescent division for such patients as are indicated in letter from this office of the 26th inst. Those placed in the division will not have the privilege of appearing before the Examining Board for furlough, nor will they be fit subjects for transfer to other Hospitals.
Should their disability be such as to warrant their being detailed for light duty, they may be recommended for such. These convalescents will be subject to duty for local defence at the discretion of the military authorities.
A sufficient number of the tents will be retained for the isolation of cases of Erysipelas, Pyaemia & Gangrene.
Very Respectfully
Yr Obt Svt
