BECK APPROVES NEW SCHOOL PLAN
Fireproof Building on Van Lew Lot to replace Old Bellevue Structure.

Campaign worries did not seem to lay heavily on the mind of Building Inspector Beck yesterday, as he and his deputies found time during working hours to check up and issue permits for new buildings to cost approximately $112,000. On the stroke of 6 o’clock the office was closed and Mr. Beck, who has been under the weather for several days, went out to put the finishing touches on his campaign.

Permits issued yesterday include the following:
…City of Richmond, Board of School Trustees, to erect a two-story and basement brick and concrete public school building on the south side of Grace Street, between Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth Streets, to cost $102,000. Carneal and Johnston are the architects, and Richardson & Co., the contractors. The new school will replace old Bellevue School, now located at Twenty-second and Broad Streets, and will be erected on the site of the home of Miss Van Lew, the entire block having recently been acquired by the city for school purposes.
