THE SUMMER COURSE OF LECTURES
OF THE
MEDICAL COLLEGE OF VA
DELIVERED BY

THE RICHMOND ASSOCIATION FOR MEDICAL INSTRUCTION will commence on the __ of April, 1861, and continue until the 1st of August ensuing, under the following organization:

Prof. C. BELL GIBSON, M.D., Lecturer on Principles and Practice of Surgery.

Prof. A. E. PETICOLAS, M.D., Lecturer on Anatomy and Clinical Surgery.

Prof. JAS. B. McCAW, M.D., Lecturer on Medical Chemistry and Toxicology.

Prof. J. S. D. CULLEN, M.D., Lecturer on Physiology.

Prof. MARION HOWARD, M.D., Lecturer on Theory and Practice of Medicine.

Prof. EDWARD C. DREW, M.D., Lecturer on Obstetrics.

The plan of instruction will embrace a combination of Lectures and Examinations – the design being to deliver but two Lectures daily, each ____ by a thorough examination upon the subject matter of the previous one, thus affording the conjoined advantage of instruction by means of lectures and daily recitations, thereby giving the Student ample time for private study, and for attention to clinical observation.

Students of this Course will be permitted to see the cases at the Medical College Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, and City Alms House, FREE OF CHARGE.

In the Surgical Wards of these Institutions important operations are constantly performed, and the Medical Department affords daily opportunities for observing Diseases peculiar and incident to the South.

Every facility will be given for the study of Practical Anatomy. The Dissecting rooms, under the charge of the Demonstrator, (Dr. Howard,) are commodious, well ventilated, and are furnished with abundant material, at, probably, a lower rate than can elsewhere be procured.

Attendance on this Course will be regarded by the Faculty of the Medical College of Virginia, as equivalent to twelve months' study in a Physician's Office.

Fee for this Course: $70
