An Irish Witness. – Robert E. Butler was charged with threatening to assault and kill August Friend.

August Friend, sworn, deposed – I am employed at Chimborazo Hospital as sergeant of the guard. Butler was employed as one of the guard. I saw reason to discharge Butler from the guard, and did so. As he left he told the sentinel –

Irish sentinel, sworn, deposed – Sunday I was posted on guard at the hospital, and Butler stopped in passing and told me to “tell the sergeant, the damned Dutch son of a bitch, I mean to kill him the first time I catch him in Rocketts.” “Bedad, you may tell him yourself,” ses I. “Well,” says he, “I’ll tell him certain.” I paid no more attention, but walked my beat.
