Foam Truck Puts Out Oil Fire in 6 Minutes
The use of the City’s two foam-generating wagons in fighting an oil vat blaze at the Tredegar Iron Works at the end of South Sixth Street on Monday night, marked the first time that it had been necessary to call both on the alarm, it was said at Fire Department offices yesterday.
Three engine companies and a hook and ladder truck answered the first alarm on the fire, loss from which was estimated yesterday at $100. The blaze, which started from an overheated vat, was extinguished in six minutes by the use of all the foam powder in one of the wagons.
