NAVY CONTRACT GOES TO TREDEGAR WORKS
The Tredegar Iron Works has been awarded a contract for the manufacture of practice shells for the Navy, it was announced yesterday. Archer Anderson, the president, declined to make public any details of the contract. Several score of skilled workers, who have been laid off temporarily, will be put back on the payrolls as the result of the contract, it is expected. These men are highly skilled workers and are among the best paid in the city. Several months will be required to fill the contract, it is believed.
