CONTRACT GIVEN TO TREDEGAR CO.
To Supply 600 Ten-Inch Castiron Shells at $24.90 Apiece.

WASHINGTON, D. C., July 24. – The War Department to-day awarded to the Tredegar Company, of Richmond the contract for supplying 600 ten-inch cast-iron shells. The bid of the Tredegar Company was $24.90 apiece, delivery to commence in three months, and to be completed in five months. The Richmond Iron Works offered to make the shells for $26.73 each, delivery to commence in 100 days, and to be completed in 300 days. The bid of the Bethlehem Steel Works was $43.25, delivery to commence in two and a half months, and to be completed in eight and a half.
