- The Old Dominion Iron and Nail Works Company of this city receive per schooner every week large quantities of ore which they use in the manufacture of nails and spikes. The ore is obtained from the Adirondack mountains in the State of New York, near Lake Champlain. The company is erecting six large furnaces at the works on Belle Isle for the better accommodation of its increasing trade.
