Company A.

Stationed at Camp Gilmer, to February 29, 1864.

February 7. – On Sunday, February 7, the company marched with the regiment across James River and bivouacked opposite Belle Isle. There remained, furnishing details to guard prisoners and in readiness to repress an unexpected emeute among them.

February 12. – We returned to our winter quarters.

February 24. – Since February 24 have been furnishing a daily detail of four to eight men for guard duty at Belle Isle.

Company C.

Stationed at Camp Gilmer, to February 29, 1864.

February 7-12. – Fearing an outbreak of the Yankee prisoners at Belle Isle upon the advance of the enemy up the Peninsula, the company was ordered there on February 7 and remained until February 12, since which time it has furnished a detail of from eight to thirteen men daily to perform guard duty there.
