Richmond Machinists to Strike.
Richmond, Va., Aug. 19. – Machinists employed by the Tredegar Iron works, this city, today voted to strike rather then to accept a new wage system which the company proposes to put into effect September 6. The change puts the men on a “speed and bonus” scale, abolishing straight time. The Tredegar works has large ammunition contracts with the United States government. The number of men so far involved is 175.
