The First Connecticut Heavy Artillery.
We understand from private letters received in this city, that the reported insubordination in the 1st Conn., an account of which we published yesterday, was much exaggerated. The affair was confined to one battalion, and principally to one or two companies. No guns were fired, and nothing more accomplished than some damage to the sutler’s establishment. The rioters were arrested on the spot, without the assistance of the “regulars,” and were released more than a week ago. It is thought the affair will not delay the return of the regiment, and the men are expecting marching orders every day. We are told the officers were as much to blame as anybody.
