From the Alexandria (Va.) Gazette, 6/29/1899, p. 2, c. 3
The publication and statement that the grave of Chief Justice Marshall, in Shockoe Hill cemetery, Richmond, was in a neglected condition has resulted in a move for the removal of the ashes of the distinguished jurist. The proposition is that the remains shall be placed in Hollywood cemetery, near the spot where are buried Presidents Monroe and Tyler and not far from that of Jefferson Davis.
