From the Alexandria Gazette, 7/6/1866, p. 1, c. 1
There was a serious riot in Richmond, Va., on Sunday last between a number of boys and negroes at Chimborazo Hill. Stones and firearms were freely used. During the riot a citizen named Doyle, who was not in any way engaged in the riot, was shot and killed by a negro, who had crept up near him and was armed with a musket or rifle.
