Heroine Dead.
Lynchburg. – Mrs. Parmelia Allen, 81 years old, who had been blind for more than 40 years years [sic], died at her home in Madison Heights. She had been ill four months. She was the widow of Alexander Allen, who died 10 years ago. Mrs. Allen lost her sight from disease contacted at the Chimborazo Hospital, in Richmond, where she nursed hundreds of Confederate soldiers. She is survived by an adopted daughter.
