QUICK DEATH AT TREDEGAR
Bursting Fly Wheel Tears the Life Out of a Workman.

RICHMOND, VA., Aug. 25. – Sam Owen, a colored employee at the Tredegar Iron Works, was instantly killed at about 1:30 o’clock this afternoon by the fly wheel in the bar mill building breaking from its socket.
Eli Duke, a white man, employed as heater in the rolling mill department, had his thigh fractured, and a white man named Hannibal Rudy, a wheel runner, was cut about the chin.
The bar mill shed was completely wrecked and the twenty-eight foot wheel was broken into several segments and part of it was thrown up on the side of Gamble’s Hill.
