From the Richmond Whig, 9/8/1865, p. 3, c. 2
PROVOST MARSHAL’S OFFICE – SECOND DISTRICT – COLONEL CHARLES WARREN COMMANDING. – In this district, yesterday, Rebecca Chandler, the great trouble of the police court in Confederate days, was arrested, charged with habitual drunkenness, being disorderly and abusing everybody and everything she came across and in contact with, even the goats and dogs. She was committed to Castle Thunder for twenty-nine days – her cabalistic number – to sober up, and study how to behave herself. This was the only arrest.
