From the Richmond Whig, 4/12/1865
IN OUR LIST OF LOSSES by the fire, republished this morning, we wish to add what should have been n the first day but for the difficulties under which we labored. They are: the Public Warehouse, in which was stored a very large quantity of tobacco; the Richmond and Petersburg Railroad bridge; the Richmond and Danville Railroad bridge, two spans of which were destroyed; "Mayo's" passenger bridge, which was owned by Mr. E. C. Mayo. - These were all public losses, not felt alone by the owners, for they affected all classes of the community. It is remarkable that this fire swept away almost every vestige of the Confederate Government from our city.
