DREADFUL ACCIDENT. - A dreadful accident occurred on Union Hill yesterday morning, which resulted in the instant death of a negro woman named Nancy Talliaferro, slave of Dr. Thomas Burton. The woman having drawn up a bucket of water from the well, was holding the windlass with her right hand, while with the other she was endeavoring to draw in the bucket jerked her head-long into the well. The accident having been witnessed by several persons, they hastened to lend their aid in getting her from the well, which was quickly effected. The woman was, however, raised out a corpse. Her skull had been broken by coming in contact with the brick wall of the well in her fall, and her death must have been almost instantaneous. She leaves a young infant.
