From the Richmond Whig, 4/5/1864, p. 1, c. 2
APPOINTED. - Our readers will be pleased to know that Mr. Thomas W. Doswell, a well known citizen of this State, has been appointed Assistant Provost Marshal of Richmond - a position made vacant by the sending South of Capt. G. W. Alexander, of Baltimore. With Major Carrington as Chief and Mr. Doswell as Assistant Provost, the office is in good hands. We are glad that, after three years of occupation by strangers, our own citizens are to be admitted to some share in the military government of the city.
We hear of further changes in this Department which it would be premature to mention as yet.
