From the Richmond Sentinel, 3/8/1864

The Body of Col. Ulric Dahlgren, who paid with his life the penalty of his recent bold outrage, was brought to the city on Sunday for the purpose of being identified. A number of citizens visited the depot of the York river railroad on yesterday for the purpose of obtaining a view, as well as gratification of a morbid curiosity. A neat coffin enclosed the body, which was clothed as in life, with the exception of a coat and hat, which had been removed. His gold studs and sleeve buttons still remained upon his person, a heavy U. S. blanket serving the place of a shroud. We could not ascertain what disposition of the remains was intended.
