NUMBERING THE HOUSES AND STREETS. – The City Council, at its meeting yesterday, adopted the report of the committee, authorizing Messrs. Starke & Mills to proceed in their contemplated work of numbering the houses and streets after a uniform system. The work will be executed by Messrs. Starke & Mills, under the immediate supervision and direction of Mr. Gill, the City Engineer and Surveyour. At the same time Messrs. Starke & Mills will avail themselves of the opportunity to get up a directory of the city, which will combine both the requisites of completeness and accuracy.
