From the Richmond Examiner, 6/23/1864
CHANGED SIDES. – Yesterday morning, while the roll of Yankee prisoners at the Libby was being called, preparatory to sending a lot South, among those who responded was A. J. Carden, who was recognized as a former Lieutenant-Colonel of the Eighteenth Tennessee regiment of the Confederate States army. He was booked as a private, belonging to Company K, Second New York Independent Rifles. His real character unmasked, he was removed from among his betters and sent to Castle Thunder, where he awaits the decision of a court martial, which will soon decide his fate.
