ATTEMPT TO ESCAPE FROM THE CASTLE. – Patrick Carrack, a prisoner confined in room No. 4 of the Castle, was detected in the act of making his escape Wednesday morning. He had attempted to bribe one of the sentinels during the night, and the sentinel, while pretending to receive the bribe, divulged the plot to the commandant of the post, and Carrack was seized the moment he descended by the rope, which was to facilitate the escape of fifteen others. Of course the stampede was stopped.
