FIRE AT THE PENITENTIARY. – Yesterday evening about 6 o'clock a fire broke out in the work-shops of the Penitentiary, by which most of the work shops were consumed; the main building was, we learn, uninjured.
As much useful work is now being done at this place, the burning of the shops at this time is quite a serious loss. We were unable to ascertain the cause of the fire, or the amount of property destroyed.
