The Fortifications. – Among the large number of idle men daily seen in our streets, there are many who would make capital soldiers, and the local fortifications now afford them a fine chance to distinguish themselves, without much liability of being extinguished in the process. Unless there is a sufficient number of volunteers for the purpose, the Governor will be forced to compulsory measures, though we have strong hope that the patriotism of the people will render this unnecessary. A meeting is called at Co. G's Armory in Henrico county, with reference to this matter.
