BABYLON OF AMERICA.
A Trip to New York by Sea Charmingly Described by G. W. B.
…VIRGINIANS.

…Strolling up Broadway, I came all of a sudden upon Anderson’s photograph gallery. How the likenesses of our Richmond ladies and gentlemen, thus suddenly brought to me, made my heart beat, and how kindly the welcome given me by Mr. Anderson and his assistant, Mr. Bradley. We had a pleasant chat together about Richmond and its people. The prettiest picture in their show-case, not excepting those brought from Virginia, was the likeness of Mrs. Thomas A. Edison.

[author then digresses to discuss Edison and go on at length about unrelated matters – not transcribed. MDG]
