POLICE COURT, YESTERDAY – Justice Joseph J. White presiding. – The following cases were disposed of:
Lewis Watkins and Andrew Washington were charged with entering the Fourth Baptist church, on Chimborazo Hill, and disturbing public worship, and also with assaulting Rev. Scott Gwathmey. This affair grew out of the fact that both of the accused, with five other person, had been expelled from the church without a trial or hearing, and the meeting said to have been disturbed was held to reopen the case. On motion of the prisoners’ counsel the case was continued until to-day.
