Smuggling Liquor into the City – Detectives Williams and Shafer arrested, on Monday evening, three women at the Danville depot, on the charge of attempting to smuggle liquor into the city of Richmond. The liquor was contained in bladders and attached to the persons of the account. How the officers happened to make the discovery did not transpire. The females were taken before Major Griswold, the Provost Marshal, who, after an admonition suitable to the gravity of the offences discharged the parties.
