From the Richmond Dispatch, 2/12/1863, p. 1, c. 5
A Desperado. – John Middlin, a member of the 28th North Carolina regiment, was brought to Castle Thunder yesterday, heavily ironed, and lodged there for trial before the Court-Martial. It appears that Middlin deserted from his regiment, and that on one of his brother soldiers and the Lieutenant of his company attempting to arrest him he badly wounded the men and killed the officer.
