Deserter to be Shot. – John Mulligan, of company C, 5th Virginia cavalry, will be shot to-day, at Camp Lee, in fulfillment of the sentence of a Court-Martial, for the crimes of desertion and substitution, between the hours of 11 and 3 o’clock – Preparations were made for the execution yesterday, the shooting party being detailed, coffin for the condemned ordered, &c. Mulligan has been reprieved on several occasions. His is said to have been an aggravated case of desertion, having been arrested after leaving the army no less than three times in this city, and returned to his companions in arms.
