From the Richmond Dispatch, 1/16/1863, p. 2, c. 1
I AM making up a box to send to the Richmond Fayette Artillery, and desire all persons who feel interested in that well known old volunteer company to send me socks, shoes, shirts, drawers, or anything that can add to their comfort, as my son, Lieut. Wm. J. Clopton informs me they are in a very destitute condition. He returns thanks for a box, in which, among other articles, were six pairs of socks from Mrs. Ann G. Pulliam, of Chesterfield. The men of this battery are mostly of the working class and unable to procure at the present prices the articles they need. They have been in active service ever since April, 1861, and surely ought to be remembered among the many who have been the recipients of the liberality of the patriotic.
Mrs. JUDGE CLOPTON,
Franklin st., betw. 3d and 4th.
