Freight Cars Demolished. – On Saturday morning last two empty freight cars were started down the temporary track leading from the Fredericksburg to the Central depot, on Broad street, and no effort being made to stop them, they soon reached the declivity, down which they went at a fearful rate of speed and with a thundering noise. They kept the track, however, until reaching the curve at the foot of the hill, when they shot across the dept lot and were smashed to pieces on the eastern side, after having upset a small shanty in the way and occasioned some consternation among the spectators. – The loss to the Central company by this occurrence is not less than $1,500.
