From the Richmond Dispatch, 5/15/1862, p. 3, c. 3
STRAYED OR STOLEN – From the stable of Gen. J. R. Anderson, on Main street, a dark bay MARE, about 7 years old, branded "C. S.," but nearly obliterated; other marks not remembered. She is very hard to bridle. A liberal reward will be paid for her delivery at the Tredegar Works.
