MISS VAN LEW’S FRIENDS. – Miss Van Lew’s friends are determined that at least she shall not be ousted without a strong fight upon their part. Another delegation of colored citizens of Richmond, Va., called upon the President yesterday urging her retention, and presenting to the President resolutions to this effect adopted unanimously by the Colored Republican Association of Richmond. The President assured them that no change should be made without sufficient cause, and Miss Van Lew’s friends, satisfied that there could possibly be no cause shown why she should not be retained, left satisfied.
