From the Richmond Dispatch, 8/11/1862

DESERTED – August 7th, 1862, from 3d Division, Winder Hospital, Privates WM. B. SMITH and JOHN H. KEISTER, of the 24th Va. regiment, company F.

SMITH is about 6 feet high, stout built, about 34 years old, dark hair, dark sandy goatee, and dark blue eyes. He was by occupation a farmer.

KEISTER is about 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, stout built, hazel eyes, about 21 years old, and dark hair, with no beard.

Both of them were from Christiansburg, Va., and were detailed as nurses by the Secretary of War for this hospital.

The usual reward of $30 each will be paid for their arrest.
