General Hospital #26 was also called Springfield Hall Hospital, Masonic hall Hospital, and Temperance Hall. It was formerly the meeting hall owned by Springfield Division #167, Sons of Temperance and was also used by Henrico Union Lodge #130, A. F. and A. M. Roane Lodge #130, I. O. O. F. It was a two-storied, brick building built in 1850.

The hospital opened in early June 1861 and was operated by the Soldiers’ Aid Society in association with Trinity Methodist and Leigh Street Baptist churches. It had a capacity of about 40 with 7 employees. Dr. John Know was the surgeon-in-charge. 

General Hospital #26 was located on the northwest corner of 26th and M Streets.
