Bogus Officers. – The Provost Marshal’s detectives arrested on Wednesday a private of company A, 12th Alabama regiment, named A. B. Mooney, who was dressed as a First Lieutenant, to which office he represented himself as entitled. His case was examined into by the Provost Marshal, who found that Mooney had not been with his regiment for a year. He was sent to Castle Thunder to be returned to duty. The decorations on his coat were removed in the Marshal’s office. On the same day a man named A. Gaines was taken in custody for passing himself off as a Lieutenant in the army. His decorations were likewise removed; but being a soldier and on furlough, he was discharged after a reprimand by the Provost Marshal.
