GENERAL ORDERS, NO. 1, PRISON SERIES.

I. * * * * Capt. W. S. WINDER, Ass't Adj't.General, is charged with all correspondence relative to Provost Marshal's Department and the prisons. All communications relating to them will be addressed accordingly.

II. * * * * Manchester and vicinity, including the whole of the bridges, will constitute a Provost Marshal's district--Capt. HENRY WIRTZ, Assistant Provost Marshal, is assigned to the command. He will have entire charge of all the bridges, and will give the necessary orders to the guard.

IV. * * * * Whenever an arrest is made, the policeman making the arrest will be held responsible for all property taken from the person arrested, until it shall be deposited in some place designated by the Provost Marshal, and in no case shall such property be used without special permission from the General commanding, or from Maj. GRISWOLD, Provost Marshal.
