From the Richmond Examiner, 7/15/1864

FIRE IN THE COUNTRY. - The alarm bells of the city rang a long alarm yesterday afternoon in response to a heavy and continuous volume of smoke seen ascending in a southeasterly direction from Richmond, in Henrico county. The rumour that Chimborazo hospital was in flames soon spread through the city, but the scene of the conflagration turned out to have been located a long distance beyond the Chimborazo. Report says an old distillery was destroyed, and again another report had it that the woods were on fire. The fire brigade turned out upon the sounding of the alarm, but returned and housed their apparatus when the distance of the conflagration was ascertained.
